SARAH CANON RESEARCH INSTITUTE / NASHVILLE CORPORATE PHOTOGRAPHY

Commercial photography is more than capturing images—it ultimately conveys a message. When we discussed the goals of a location shoot with Sarah Cannon Research Institute, learning and understanding their mission and values were paramount. As we talked about their objectives, we immediately knew the messaging of the final result—photography that inspired confidence, strength, and hope.

The Sarah Cannon Research Institute in Nashville, Tennessee, is the research arm of the Cancer Institute of HCA Healthcare, which offers integrated cancer treatments with convenient access to cutting-edge therapies for those facing cancer in communities across the United States and the United Kingdom. By bringing together a network of globally-recognized cancer experts, they collaborate and share best practices that address every aspect of the cancer journey, from screening and diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.

Once we understood the action-oriented approach of SCRI, we decided to convey that through photographs that reflect proactive energy. We also approached the portrait photography with a desire to communicate the fact that there are people—individuals—working to find solutions to a complex and often overwhelming problems. The portraiture of their staff, physicians, and executives on location put faces to a concept.

We also showcased the architecture of their location, using their building as a backdrop. We balanced the smooth, cool tones of their environment with warm skin tones. This not only aesthetically tied into their marketing efforts, it highlighted the humanity behind their mission.
